Honolulu City Council Honors John H. Clark III
Some people retire from public service. John H. Clark III simply found new ways to serve. At its June 3 meeting, the Honolulu City Council recognized the retired United States Navy Commander for his extraordinary leadership and unwavering commitment to the ʻEwa Beach community.
After more than 30 years in the Navy, John retired in 2018, but his commitment to service was far from over. For more than a decade, Clark served on the ʻEwa Neighborhood Board as Education Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Chairperson, working alongside community leaders, elected officials, and the Hawaiʻi Department of Education to strengthen local schools and build partnerships that benefit the community.
His volunteer efforts have helped countless people and organizations and schools including ʻEwa Beach Elementary, ʻIlima Intermediate, ʻEwa Makai Middle School, James Campbell High School, and TeenBuilding Hawaii. He is an accomplished author, leadership consultant, and founder of TeenBuildingUSA. John has dedicated his life to lifting others up and making a lasting difference in ʻEwa!

99 Years Young—and Still Inspiring!
It was a birthday surprise to remember when Councilmember Augie Tulba presented Dorothy Mau with an Honorary Certificate celebrating both her 99th birthday and her traditional 100th birthday in the Chinese calendar.
A retired special education teacher, Dorothy has spent decades serving Hawaiʻi through volunteer work, cultural programs, and community leadership, touching countless lives.
At 99 years young, Dorothy continues to inspire those around her, proving that a life filled with kindness, purpose, and aloha only grows richer with time. Happy Birthday, Dorothy!

10 Years of D’Lish!
There was plenty to celebrate on May 23 as Councilmember Augie Tulba joined D’lish at the Beach owners Gina Ornellas and Leigh Adams to mark the restaurant’s 10th anniversary and present them with an Honorary Certificate recognizing a decade of serving the ʻEwa Beach community.
The sisters’ journey began long before their beachside café, D’lish at the Beach, opened in 2016. What keeps people coming back isn't just the food—it's the atmosphere. The music, laughter, ocean breeze, and sense of community make every visit feel like time spent with old friends.
