Malia oversees the office's communications strategy and writes neighborhood board reports, community newsletters, speeches, public announcements, and profiles of local heroes, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses.

She also produces Augie's Community Connection on ʻŌlelo Community Media and the Councilmember's Salem Radio programs, where she books guests, coordinates interviews, writes scripts, and occasionally performs last-minute miracles before airtime.

Malia is passionate about keeping residents informed, recognizing the people who make our community stronger, and helping connect government with the people it serves. When she's not behind a keyboard or a camera, you'll probably find her at a community cleanup—picking up more trash than she ever imagined would be included in a communications job description.
